A collection of more than 16.000 art objects, some of them rarities of Brazilian artists such as Victor Meirelles, Rodolfo Amoedo, Almeida Jr. and Eliseu Visconti, are on view, together with invaluable works of foreign artists, in exhibitions, for example, of Italian baroque pieces or pieces by the Dutch artist Frans Post, etc. There are halls for temporary exhibitions, a library, a shop and a café.

The magnificent 1906 building was the national head office of Banco do Brasil for a longtime and has become one of the most recognized Brazilian cultural centers since 1986. You can find a cinema, a theater, a library, a shop, a café, a tea room and exhibitions.

CASA FRANÇA-BRASIL

Founded in 1820, it has been originally the headquarters of Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. In neoclassical style, it is an architectural work by the former French artist Grandjean de Montigny.

The building was inaugurated in 1922. The eclectic lines of architecture in the façade characterize a building of the early XIX Century built to host the Lloyd Brasileiro school. The purpose was not accomplished and the building was occupied, for more than 50 years, by the administrative and operational units of the Public Mailing Company.
